ZuzuKids Terms of Use

Last updated: September 10, 2026

These terms cover your use of the ZuzuKids iOS app. The app is bought and used by an adult on behalf of a child; by using it you accept these terms and confirm you are the parent or guardian of the child who will use it, or are acting with their permission.

Your licence to use ZuzuKids is Apple’s Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, published at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. The terms on this page are additional to it: they describe what the app is, what it is not, and how the subscription is billed. Where the two disagree, Apple’s agreement governs.

What ZuzuKids is — and is not

ZuzuKids teaches early reading and writing alongside colours, shapes, numbers and animals, in eleven languages, each with its own alphabet and its own teaching order. It is a practice tool, not a school and not an assessment. It does not diagnose or measure a learning difficulty, and progress inside the app is not a measure of a child’s ability. If you have concerns about a child’s development, speak to a teacher or a health professional.

Lessons are narrated by the device’s own speech synthesiser. Pronunciation is generally good and occasionally imperfect, particularly for individual letter sounds. Treat it as a guide alongside an adult’s voice, not as a replacement for one.

Supervision

The app is designed to be safe to hand to a young child: no advertising, no chat, no links a child can follow out of the app, and a parent gate in front of purchases and settings. It is not a substitute for supervision, and you remain responsible for how and for how long your child uses the device.

The parent PIN

You choose the PIN on first launch. Choose something your child does not know — not their birthday, not 1234. If you forget it, you can reset it from the gate using the device passcode or biometrics; that reset clears the PIN only and leaves profiles and progress untouched. Keep the device passcode itself away from the child, or the reset becomes a way around the gate.

License

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use ZuzuKids on devices you own or control. You may not resell, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the source or the content of the app.

The lessons, artwork, curriculum and text in the app are ours and are licensed to you for personal family use only. They may not be reproduced, published, or used in a classroom product or another app.

Free content and subscription

Part of the app is free and stays free: the first level of Colours and the complete alphabet in each of the eleven languages. The rest is available through an auto-renewing subscription, offered weekly or monthly at the price shown on the subscription screen at the time of purchase.

Prices are set per country by Apple and may change; any change applies from your next renewal and Apple will ask you to confirm it. Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms; we cannot issue them directly.

Your content

The profiles you create and the progress your children build are yours. They stay on the device and, where iCloud is switched on, in your own private iCloud storage (see the Privacy Policy). You are responsible for keeping your own backups. Deleting the app deletes what is on the device.

Availability

The app works offline and does not depend on a service of ours staying up. We may nonetheless change, suspend or discontinue the app or any part of it. If a subscription is running when that happens, Apple’s refund and cancellation terms apply.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

ZuzuKids is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the content is free from error, that pronunciation is perfect in every language, or that the app is fit for any particular educational purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

Changes

These terms may be updated; the current version always lives at this address with its date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
